This summer, Omega had the pleasure of hosting Richard Tamirisa as our intern.
Richard is a junior at George Mason studying Financial Planning & Wealth Management. Throughout the summer, he assisted the team on a variety of projects and got to experience firsthand the day-to-day operations of a boutique financial planning firm. Richard was a great intern and has a bright future ahead. We wish him the best as he continues working toward his degree!
Reflections from Richard:
When I started my internship with Omega Wealth Management, I had come in at a unique point in time when Jared was on sabbatical and Saki was getting ready to go on maternity leave. With all the moving parts around the office, I saw how good teamwork, effective goal setting, and positive energy helped everyone show up for clients. In light of this, whether it was helping leadership put together internal reports or updating clients’ Pools of Wealth with Omega’s new branding, I truly felt like I was making a difference with the work I was doing and was able to be on the front lines of the firm’s strategic growth.
One thing that stood out to me about Omega from the beginning was the way every member of the team contributed to fostering personal relationships with clients. It wasn’t just about the client’s finances for Omega, but about who they were at their core, what they strived to achieve in life, and how money could be used as a means to that end. Additionally, Omega’s specialization in financial transitions showed me that the team wanted to truly be a support system during periods of change, which redefined the level of empathy that I thought advisors needed to be successful. Having the opportunity to see these discussions occur during meetings and how the team truly exemplified its values, made me realize the importance of stewarding a client’s trust responsibly.
I also couldn’t end my blog post without talking about the team’s welcoming nature and light-heartedness. I had the opportunity to learn about my coworkers’ backgrounds during team-building exercises, 1-on-1s, and happy hours, all of which showed me how skills from their past experiences translated to their current roles at Omega. In only a few months here, I learned the importance of treating people with kindness, prioritizing their needs, and using my talents to help those around me. As I return to George Mason University for the fall semester, Omega’s human-centered and team-approach values will stay front-of-mind as I continue to build my career as a young professional in the financial services industry.
